#2 Creative Living: Designing a Life of Joy and Freedom

Updated: May 12, 2025

Eliminate "happiness poverty" through creative living. Creative living is about expressing yourself freely and allowing yourself the joy of designing the lifestyle of your dreams. Humans are naturally built for creative living—we have all the talents and tools embedded in our DNA. We are innately inquisitive, curious, innovative, pleasure-seeking, and adaptive.

When we focus on what brings us joy, we can channel our creativity toward innovative ways of finding happiness. While there are essential responsibilities in life—such as caring for ourselves and our dependents—pleasure-seeking must be balanced with a sustainable way of living. However, creative living is often fueled by struggle, hard work, and increased challenges. The father of invention is the desire to avoid pain, while the mother is the pursuit of pleasure. By harnessing these emotional drivers, we can eradicate happiness and poverty and unlock an endless connection to our divine creative potential

When you adopt a mindset of service to others and free yourself from conditioned thinking, you’ll free yourself from depressive thoughts. The first step to "constant happiness" is directing your thoughts toward expanding your freedom. Once you envision your life as a free spirit, your innate creative abilities will generate ideas to manifest that lifestyle. The key is to become aware of new ideas as they emerge in your conscious mind.

Since the moment you were conceived, you’ve been using your God-given creative abilities. You’ve created a path to survival and found ways to experience pleasure and happiness. Now, you can use those same abilities to experience happiness more frequently—or even all the time. Happiness is generated through a combination of fun, service, and creation. When you align these three aspects in your life, sadness and depression will fade away.

Creative living is about inventing paths to your joy. Your subconscious is always seeking happiness, but distractions constantly assault it. Media, societal norms, your environment, and countless joy-stealing ideas can derail your pursuit of happiness. You must rise above these distractions and become aware of the external forces that try to influence you. Stay above the noise by connecting to the divine and trusting your instincts to guide you. Your instincts are designed to keep you safe and steer you toward opportunities for joy

The challenge many people face is that they allow fear to dictate their path. When you align yourself with fun and service, all you need to do is become aware of your instinct for joy-seeking—and then

take action. Once you take that initial step, the creative process kicks in. You’ll naturally begin inventing new ways to bring more joy into your life.

Creative living is about innovating and carving out your own path to happiness. Free yourself from conditioned responses and societal programming. You know what’s best for you, and only you can create a path of continuous joy. Even during difficult times, you can still find happiness. When you have the certainty that future happiness awaits you, you’ll naturally attract the path to that future. By living as a free spirit, you are empowered to create any path you choose.

"Creativity is the superhighway to happiness" - CM

"To live a creative life, one must lose the fear of being wrong" - Joseph Chilton Pearce “A creative life is an amplified life. It's a bigger life, a happier life, an expanded life, and a hell of a lot more interesting life. Living in this manner— continually and stubbornly bringing forth the jewels that are hidden within you—is a fine art, in and of itself.” - Elizabeth Gilbert

Ask yourself: When am I using my creative abilities to generate more happiness?

Action step: Meditate with the intention of connecting to what brings you joy. Then take action on a new idea to manifest that joy in your day.
